Man Charged With Leaving Scene Of Crash That Killed Female Pedestrian In Miller Place

A man was arrested for leaving the scene of the fatal crash that killed a female pedestrian in Miller Place, said Suffolk County Police.

Mary Ginty, 31, of 22 Riverhead Road, Sound Beach, has been identified as the woman who was killed in the crash Monday night, June 24 in front of 55 Miller Place Road, Miller Place.

Police said she was walking northbound on Miller Place when she was reportedly struck by a northbound 2017 Hyundai Elantra just before 10 p.m.

The driver drove away in a Hyundai, said Suffolk County Police.

Ginty was taken to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson where she was pronounced dead, according to the report.

The suspect, John Lang, was arrested at his parents’ home in Ridge early Tuesday, June 25 at 1:55 a.m., said police.

Lang, 30, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, according to police.

He was held overnight at the Seventh Precinct and will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday.
